Okay, so I lost a month of mail and school documents, not 2 weeks, I didn't back those things up in the last backup, fuckity fuck fuck.
Why you ask Dre? Because IBM Deskstar hard drives SUCK ASS, big hairy ass, redneck type ass. I will never again buy another IBM product. This is the 2nd drive of theirs that has fucked me. I lose two drives in the space of 4 months from the same manufacturer? Not me again. I just bought a 60GB Western Digital, and I plan to take the IBMs and run them together on a RAID 1 array, just in case they decide to fuck around again, because although I would like to throw them the fuck out the window, I paid too much money for the bastards. So I managed to salvage an old address book, mail and documents up to the 19th of October, and everything else that was on that drive is g-o-n-e. If I owe anyone e-mail, please re-send it or drop me a line, things have been way too crazy around here for me to remember anything not stapled to my forehead. I installed XP on the new drive, photoshop and director, the necessities to get my damn portfolio finished, considering it's almost 8 in the bloody morning, and I have a nice long string of activites laid out for me today, I am going to sleep. Well my primary hard drive just died.
It's been about 2 weeks since my last backup, so I'm set to lose some mail and my fucking school documents, along with a bunch of downloads and music (but they aren't really stressing me out), the fact I have to get a new drive and re-install every-fucking-thing, and the fact I lost some important stuff, is pissing me off. Does anybody know how much it costs to recover data, and where's a good place? Let me know if you do. So with that, I'll be a little absent for a while, no e-mail etc. I have a lot of shit to get back up and running. Urgh.
After I thought I had spam under control some fucking spammer just sent off a bunch of their junk with MY address as the return, I'm getting junk from too many people with "remove" and "unknown account" crap. So much so I've just had to condemn the address in question (for a while anyway). I haaaaaaaaaate those sons of bitches, enough to share with you people my filters, over the past 3 years I've gotten a lot spam, and about a year ago I decided to start using my damn mail filters to block it, I've amassed quite a collection of phrases which I use to block the bastards, and it works really well, I check mail and 20-something messages go straight to the trash while the 4 legitimate e-mails wind up in my inbox. I hope one of you can find some use in it. Oh, and I have not slept for the night, I am never again bending over backwards for a client when it means I end up fucking other areas of my life. Ah yes, as I said on the '9 I just saw Monsoon Wedding, pretty damn good movie, I yet groans and moans in this house whenever I bring a foreign film home from Blockbuster, it was so bad with The Taste of Others I couldn't get through the bloody movie. This is why it's 7am, the time where all I hear are snores, which the sound pretty much drowns out.
Anyway this was a particularly good film, made me actually want to see India again (oh and btw, Happy Diwali everyone), but must of all it made me feel, which is something movies rarely achieve anymore. Made me think about weddings too, every other culture has such great traditions when it comes to weddings, I do think a Hindu wedding takes the cake (so far), good thing I'm half Hindu right? ;) Another one I've yet to look into, but which I'm curious about, is a traditional Chinese wedding (No, I'm not messing with your heads, or am I?). Catholic weddings just seem so bloody boring, I've sat through one too many, and the reception doesn't count, we're talking weddings here, and the wedding is really nothing memorable. Another related matter, since I'm not confirmed I hear I can't be married in a Catholic church, does this seem like *expletive* to anyone else but me? I've had much debates on the issue, bah I say! Let's see, I'm hungry, rather at that, and I have zero money, wonderful. This means I've got to go to the bank first, then to McDonalds, I don't want to get out of my car, I wonder if I can steal some money from Rossi or James... News: Frostbyte is now a pending registered business, we filed the paperwork last week, we're getting business cards printed this week and Scott is on my ass to overhaul the website, so wish us luck ;) I read a little article detailing why weblogs are the lepers of the internet, well the bad kinds anyway, those that'll link to just about anything, once it's loosely connected to the link text, you know the kind.
